First, let me say I gave this product one star because zero was not an option. We bought this DVD player from a local Circuit City new in December 2005 as a Christmas present for my daughter. She used it a grand total of 5 times before the picture stopped showing. It has sound, but no picture, so it's useless. This is a very careful child, it was not dropped or mishandled in any way. Long story short, I called Polaroid and was led through some very minor troubleshooting (flip a switch, reboot...that's about it). Once it was determined by the CSR that the unit was faulty, she so kindly offered me a "no-warranty" replacement at the astounding cost of $95.! For $40. more, we could buy a new one, probably less now that it's been out for awhile. The company only offers a 90-day warranty on this product as it "tends to break easily and often", those were her exact words. This has been a great DVD player for us for over 2 years now. Has made car trips tolerable with a toddler. Just recently the picture all of a sudden appeared upside down. We were mystified, but finally figured out that if you hold down the MODE button for a couple of seconds, it's fixed. Best kid-friendly electronic purchase we've made.

After reading the other posts, all I can figure is that I must be the lucky one.

We bought this over a year ago (@ CircuitCity) for a vacation/flight for my then 1 year old. A year later we have taken this on multiple flights and use it almost daily on the back of the headrest in our car. It works like a charm & I love that it also plays VCD's in addition to DVD's, CD's. This little dvd player has been a life saver and we have put it under some pretty heavy use.

My only tip is to buy the 'Car Bag' from polaroid official site under Accessories to really get full use of the Tablet like function.

Sorry to hear about others' experiences, but mine was super positive for what it is worth.
